Question 1

Does this tester measure pH, or is it only for TDS and EC?

Accepted Answer

Great question—and you're not alone in wondering. This 4-in-1 meter actually measures three parameters: Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), Electrical Conductivity (EC), and temperature. There’s no pH test included. Many TikTok reviewers noted the “4-in-1” label refers to the four display modes (TDS, EC, °C, and °F), not four separate water chemistry tests. If you need pH, this isn't the right tool.

Question 2

How accurate and consistent are the readings for aquarium or RO system use?

Accepted Answer

For everyday home use—checking your RO filter output, aquarium water changes, or pool conductivity—it’s more than accurate enough, landing at ±2% to ±3% across the 0–9990 PPM range. That said, some Reddit users reported slight unit-to-unit variation (about 10–20 PPM difference on the same sample). Since it lacks automatic temperature compensation, let the probe stabilize for 10–15 seconds for best results. For lab-grade precision, you’d want a pricier meter with ATC.

Question 3

Is the probe replaceable, or do I toss the whole unit when it wears out?

Accepted Answer

The probe is permanently attached to the body, so both the unit and probe are a single piece. When performance drifts or the sensor gets damaged, you’ll need to replace the whole tester. On the bright side, most users get 12–18 months of regular use before needing a new one, and the low price makes that trade-off reasonable for hobbyists and homeowners.

Question 4

Does it require calibration out of the box, and how do I do it?

Accepted Answer

It comes pre-calibrated from the factory, so you can use it immediately. For best accuracy over time, we recommend recalibrating every 2–3 months using a standard 1500 PPM or 342 PPM calibration solution (sold separately). The adjustment screw is located inside the battery compartment—just turn gently with a small screwdriver while the probe is in the solution. A few YouTube reviewers mentioned this step is easy to miss, so keep the manual handy.

Question 5

Can I leave the probe submerged in my aquarium or pool, or is it for spot checks only?

Accepted Answer

Spot checks only—this is not a submersible or floating meter. The display and electronics are water-resistant at best, not waterproof. Submerging it for more than a minute or dropping it in the tank can damage the internal circuits. After each use, rinse the probe with clean water and dry it before storing. Most aquarists on the forums use it as a quick dip-and-read tool during water changes, which works perfectly fine.
