Question 1

Is the G305 too small for someone with large hands?

Accepted Answer

It depends on your grip style. Many users with hands over 19cm (7.5 inches) find it too small for a comfortable palm grip, leading to cramping during long sessions. However, if you use a claw or fingertip grip, even users with larger hands often praise its control. If you're a dedicated palm gripper with large hands, you might want to consider a more ergonomic model like the Logitech G703.

Question 2

How does the "lightweight" claim match up with the included AA battery?

Accepted Answer

This is a common point of discussion. The mouse shell itself is very light, but the included AA alkaline battery adds noticeable weight (bringing it to about 99g). For a truly lightweight experience (closer to 85-90g), many gamers on platforms like Reddit recommend using a lightweight lithium AA or a AAA battery with a simple adapter sleeve, which is a popular and effective mod.

Question 3

Can I use this mouse without installing the Logitech G Hub software?

Accepted Answer

Yes, absolutely. The mouse works plug-and-play with standard settings. If you want to customize DPI, button assignments, or report rate, you can use G Hub to save your profile directly to the mouse's onboard memory and then uninstall the software. It's a feature many users love for keeping their setup bloat-free. Note that on Mac, third-party software like SteerMouse may be needed for advanced customization.

Question 4

What's the real-world battery life, and is the wireless connection good for competitive gaming?

Accepted Answer

With the included battery and default settings, you can easily expect several months of use, with many users reporting 4-6 months of daily gaming. The Logitech Lightspeed wireless connection is a major highlight—it's consistently praised in reviews for being indistinguishable from a wired connection, with no perceptible lag, making it fully suitable for competitive gaming.

Question 5

How is the build quality, and are there any common long-term wear issues?

Accepted Answer

The G305 is renowned for its internal reliability (sensor, switches, wireless), but some users note the external plastic can feel a bit hollow and may develop a slight creak over time if gripped very tightly. The most common wear item is the mouse feet (skatez), which some enthusiasts find become less smooth on hard pads after months of heavy use. Fortunately, high-quality aftermarket replacement feet are widely available and inexpensive.
