Question 1

I have fine, low-porosity hair—will this conditioner weigh my curls down?

Accepted Answer

Many users with low-porosity hair report that this formula can feel heavy or leave buildup after a few washes. If your hair struggles to absorb moisture, consider using it as a deep treatment once a week rather than a daily conditioner, or try a lighter option like SheaMoisture’s Raw Shea Butter line. A clarifying shampoo every 2–3 weeks can also help prevent residue.

Question 2

I’ve seen TikTok reviews saying this conditioner smells too strong. What’s the scent like?

Accepted Answer

The fragrance is a sweet, honey-forward blend with earthy mafura oil notes. While many love the natural aroma, a noticeable number of TikTok users describe it as “lingering” or “overpowering,” especially those sensitive to strong scents. If you prefer unscented or subtle products, you might want to sample it first.

Question 3

Can I use this on color-treated or chemically relaxed hair?

Accepted Answer

Yes—the formula is free of sulfates, parabens, and drying alcohols, making it generally safe for color-treated and relaxed hair. However, if your hair is heavily processed, you may still need a bond-repairing treatment (like Olaplex) alongside this for best results. Always patch-test a small section first.

Question 4

The consistency looks thinner than other SheaMoisture conditioners. Does that mean it’s less moisturizing?

Accepted Answer

Not necessarily. The thinner texture is intentional for easier distribution on thick, coily hair. It still packs deep hydration thanks to manuka honey and mafura oil. That said, some Reddit users with finer hair prefer thicker formulas like the SheaMoisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil conditioner for a richer feel. Shake the bottle well before use, as ingredients can separate.

Question 5

How does this compare to the SheaMoisture Raw Shea Butter Restorative Conditioner?

Accepted Answer

The Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil version is lighter and focuses on moisture absorption for dry, damaged hair, while the Raw Shea Butter line is richer and better for extreme dryness or protective styles. If your hair needs intense repair, go with Raw Shea Butter. For daily softness without greasiness, this one is a fan favorite.
