Question 1

Will the adhesive damage my wooden stairs when removed?

Accepted Answer

The adhesive is strong and designed to be long-lasting. While many users report clean removal, on delicate, old, or freshly varnished wood, there is a risk of pulling up the finish or leaving a residue. We recommend testing one tread in an inconspicuous area first. For sensitive floors, gently heating the tread with a hairdryer before peeling can help loosen the adhesive.

Question 2

How do I clean these treads, and are they high-maintenance?

Accepted Answer

The carpet material does attract dust and pet hair, so regular vacuuming is needed to keep them looking fresh—a common point mentioned in reviews. For deeper cleans, you can use a carpet cleaner or spot-clean with a mild detergent. They are not machine washable.

Question 3

The dimensions are 8" x 30". Will they fit my stairs properly?

Accepted Answer

These are designed as a center-application tread, not to cover the entire stair from wall-to-wall. The 8" width provides a secure walking path, and the 30" length fits the depth of most standard stairs. If your stairs are narrower than 30" deep, you can easily trim the length with scissors for a perfect fit, as many DIYers on social media have shown.

Question 4

Are these truly effective for pets and elderly family members?

Accepted Answer

Yes, providing secure traction is their primary benefit. The textured carpet surface significantly reduces slipping, a feature overwhelmingly praised by parents and pet owners in reviews. They create a much safer staircase for paws, little feet, and unsteady steps, offering great peace of mind.

Question 5

What if I need to reposition a tread? Is the adhesive reusable?

Accepted Answer

The adhesive is strongest on the first application. While you *can* reposition a tread if you act quickly, its holding power will diminish each time it's lifted and re-stuck. For the best results, we recommend measuring and aligning carefully before you peel off the backing paper to ensure a perfect, one-time placement.
