Question 1

Will this actually cure my chronic bad breath, or is it just a temporary freshener?

Accepted Answer

Great question. The Tongueclear gel helps remove surface debris and bacteria that contribute to bad breath, but it's a daily hygiene aid rather than a medical cure. Many Reddit users with chronic halitosis noted improvements when combining this with a tongue scraper and proper hydration, but those with underlying sinus or digestive issues didn't see complete elimination. Think of it as part of your morning routine, not a standalone solution.

Question 2

Does the gel work with any tongue scraper, or do I need to buy their brush too?

Accepted Answer

It works best with a tongue brush or a scraper with shallow ridges rather than a flat-edge metal scraper, which tends to push the gel off instead of spreading it. If you have a standard U-shaped scraper, you can apply a dime-sized amount directly to your tongue, spread it with your finger, then scrape as usual. TikTok users recommend dabbing it on rather than squeezing—avoids the "gel waterfall" problem.

Question 3

Is it safe for kids or people with a sensitive gag reflex?

Accepted Answer

The gel is generally safe for ages 6 and up, but the strong mint tingle might trigger gagging in sensitive users. The consistency is thin, so it doesn't coat the tongue thickly, which helps. If you're prone to gagging, start with half a pea-sized amount at the tip of your tongue, and avoid the back of the throat. Some parents on Facebook groups said their kids tolerated it better than toothpaste foam.

Question 4

Why are there two tubes in the pack? Will they expire before I use both?

Accepted Answer

The two-pack is designed for value—each tube lasts about 2-3 months with daily use, so you're covered for up to six months. Check the crimp of the tube for a batch code and expiration date (typically 18 months from manufacture). To prevent waste, some buyers give the second tube to a partner or store it in the fridge to extend freshness. The compact size also works great for travel or gym bags.

Question 5

Is this better than using plain baking soda or mouthwash for tongue cleaning?

Accepted Answer

For gentle daily maintenance, yes—the fresh mint flavor is more pleasant than baking soda's salty taste, and the glycerin base helps loosen debris without irritation like alcohol-based mouthwashes can cause. However, baking soda is more alkaline and effective at neutralizing odor-causing acids, and it costs pennies. If your priority is budget and potency, stick with baking soda. If you value convenience, taste, and portability, this gel is a solid upgrade.
