Question 1

Is this clove oil safe to use for a toothache, and how should I apply it?

Accepted Answer

Yes, many users report it provides excellent temporary relief for toothaches. However, it is extremely potent and must be diluted. The common method is to dilute 1 drop of clove oil with 1 teaspoon of a carrier oil (like coconut or olive oil). Soak a cotton ball or swab in the mixture and apply it only to the affected area for a short time. Never use it undiluted or swallow it.

Question 2

How do I properly dilute this oil for use on skin?

Accepted Answer

Safety is key. For general topical use, a 1-2% dilution is recommended. This means adding about 6-12 drops of clove oil per 1 ounce (30 mL) of a carrier oil like jojoba, almond, or fractionated coconut oil. We advise doing a patch test on a small area of skin first. As many experienced users on forums stress, "This oil is powerful—when in doubt, dilute it more."

Question 3

The scent seems very strong and medicinal. Is this normal?

Accepted Answer

Yes, this is normal for 100% pure, steam-distilled clove oil. It has an intense, warm, and spicy-medicinal aroma characteristic of its high eugenol content, which is also what makes it effective. If you were expecting a softer scent primarily for diffusion, you may prefer to blend it with sweeter oils like orange or vanilla. Some TikTok creators show great blending recipes for a more balanced aroma.

Question 4

I’ve heard the child-resistant cap can be tricky. Any tips?

Accepted Answer

The cap is designed to be very secure for safety. If you're having difficulty, try pressing down firmly with the palm of your hand while turning, which can provide more leverage. A small number of reviews from users with hand strength issues mention this challenge, but most appreciate the added safety precaution, especially in homes with children or pets.

Question 5

How does this compare to more expensive brands, and what are its main uses?

Accepted Answer

With over 5,200 reviews praising its potency and value, this oil is consistently noted as being comparable in quality to premium brands but at a much better price per ounce. Its primary uses, based on customer feedback, include: as a diluted dental aid, in DIY cleaning solutions for its antiseptic properties, in homemade insect repellent blends, and for adding a spicy note to aromatherapy when blended. It's a favorite among savvy DIYers and natural wellness enthusiasts.
