Question 1

Is the 100Hz refresh rate and "Eye-Care" technology really worth it for office work and general use?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. Based on numerous user reports, the jump from 60Hz to 100Hz makes everyday scrolling and motion noticeably smoother, reducing perceived lag. More importantly, the Eye-Care suite (Low Blue Light & Adaptive Brightness) is frequently cited as a game-changer for reducing eye strain during long work or browsing sessions. It's a standout feature for professionals and students.

Question 2

How adjustable is the monitor stand, and can I mount it on an arm?

Accepted Answer

The included stand offers tilt adjustment but does not provide height, swivel, or pivot (portrait) rotation. This is a common point noted in reviews. However, the monitor is VESA mount compatible (100x100mm), so you can easily attach it to a fully adjustable monitor arm or stand for optimal ergonomics, which many users recommend.

Question 3

Are the built-in speakers good enough, or will I need external ones?

Accepted Answer

You will likely want external speakers or a headset for meaningful audio. As mentioned in many online discussions, the built-in speakers are very basic—fine for system sounds or a quick video in a pinch, but they lack bass and volume. Planning for external audio from the start is the best approach.

Question 4

Is this a good monitor for competitive gaming, or is it better as an all-purpose screen?

Accepted Answer

It's an excellent all-purpose screen that handles casual gaming very well. The 100Hz refresh rate provides a nice edge over standard 60Hz monitors. However, dedicated competitive gamers often seek higher refresh rates (144Hz+) and adaptive sync technology (like FreeSync), which this model does not have. For a balanced mix of work, media, and casual gaming, it's fantastic. For esports, you might consider a specialized gaming monitor.

Question 5

How does the BenQ GW2790 hold up for tasks like photo editing, and what's the warranty like?

Accepted Answer

The IPS panel delivers strong, consistent colors and wide viewing angles, making it suitable for hobbyist or everyday photo editing. For professional color-critical work, a factory-calibrated monitor would be recommended. BenQ backs this monitor with a standard 3-year warranty. User experiences with support are generally positive, but specific service can vary by region.
